For forever DMs, busy adventurers, and anyone tired of "scheduling conflicts"…

Want to play more D&D? Now you can.

PLAY A 5E SOLO ADVENTURE.

No Dungeon Master. No prep. And no canceled sessions. With a short solo adventure, any night can be game night. All you need is your character sheet and some dice.

We've all (not) been there...

You spent three hours building a character you love. You wrote a backstory and bought a fresh set of dice.

Then it hits your inbox. Game night is cancelled.

The final boss isn't an Ancient Red Dragon or a Tarrasque. It’s adult scheduling.

Between jobs, family, timezone differences, and the endless search for an available DM, most players spend more time talking about playing D&D than actually rolling dice.

... So play wherever you want.

Obvious Mimic turns fifth-edition D&D into an immediate, self-guided tabletop experience.

These aren’t passive novels or simplistic "Choose Your Own Adventure" paperbacks. They are full-fledged 5e modules engineered specifically for a single hero:

Real 5e Mechanics: Make skill checks, manage spell slots, track hit points, and run combat on your terms.

Play at Your Own Pace: Got 20 minutes on a lunch break? Play a quick encounter. Have a free Saturday night? Clear an entire adventure.

No Guilt Gaming: Test that weird character build you’ve been theory-crafting for months without worrying about party balance.

  • “Writing that deserves the description 'evocative,' ideas that inspire, very deployable: all in all, a winner.”

  • "For people who aren't looking to write their own story, but instead want to experience the story through the lens of their own character, I think you'll really enjoy Obvious Mimic's adventures."

And what is a solo adventure?

A solo adventure is an interactive story where you pick your own path and play your own 5e/5.5e character.

We are making this for you if you want more of your favorite TTRPG and would rather play than DM yourself in the downtime between sessions.

  • Play your own 5e character. There are challenges for every character in our adventures.
  • Take your own path through an interactive story where your decisions have consequences.
  • Fight monsters, cast spells, and find treasure within an original story.
  • Make progress with loot and experience that you keep in a regular tabletop game.

FAQ

Can I play my own character?

Yes. Our solo adventures are designed to challenge any character. So play your own character across multiple solo adventures, or bring the same one to your group session with experience and gear.

Is this like Choose Your Own Adventure, or Fighting Fantasy?

Yes and no. It has an interactive story where your choices navigate the page. However, you also get to play your own character according to standard 5e rules.

Is this good for beginners?

It’s actually the fastest way for complete beginners to learn the rules of D&D without the social pressure of sitting at a crowded table.

What happens if my normal group gets back together?

Play both! Solo D&D sharpens your tactical knowledge, fleshes out character backstories, and keeps your dice warm between group sessions.
